Canonical has become preoccupied with herding users to their music store, 'ubuntu one' and their other commercial enterprises. Thats why they've dumbed down the interface. Popularity has gone to their head. They seem to forget that didnt invent this gnu/linux operating system, they just put it together. Seem to remember Red Hat doing this too... Time to find a new distro.
